On Thursday 4th March, Old Clee School celebrated World Book Day in style! Everyone dressed up as a character from a book, and the effort made was truly fantastic
4SS presented themselves very well, and we had all sorts of fantastic characters ranging from Pirates to Princesses and Tracy Beaker to a Tudor executioner!

Our star of the week is Coral. Coral is always enthusiastic and consistently works hard in class. She shows a great deal of consideration to other class members and is always willing to offer help. Well done Coral!

On Tuesday 19th January, we had a very exciting visitor in school for year 4. We are learning about the Tudors during our topic time at the moment, and are going to be focusing on Tudor feasts for the next couple of weeks. This will include all aspects of the feast which include: table decoration, table manners, what kind of food they ate, recipes, making the food, and finally, eating the food in our reconstructed Tudor feast!
In Tudor times music would have been played at a feast, so we invited Dante Ferrara, an expert on Tudor music to come and talk to us. Dante came dressed in period costume and brought with him handmade replicas of the instuments used during the Tudor period. Dante talked to us about the instruments then played them for us. This was a real treat and we all enjoyed the afternoon.
We all learnt lots about Tudor music and really enjoyed Dante Ferrara’s visit, we hope to listen to his CD soon!
This week’s star of the week from 4SS is… Joshua! Josh has really applied himself this week, both in his work and keeping his chatter to a minimum! Well done Josh, keep it up!

Due to our trip to Gainsborough Old Hall being cancelled because of the poor driving conditions, we decided to take advantage of this weather and hold a snow sculpting competition!! All children(and staff too!) enjoyed this activity. It was very hard to judge the competition as everyone did very well, but in the end we chose three favourites:

Welcome back everyone, Happy New Year! We have got lots of exciting things to look forward to this term. During topic time we are going to be learning about the Tudors and as the theme of the term is Food Glorious Food, we are going to plan and enjoy a Tudor feast!
Last term we made robots and used electrical circuits to make the eyes light up and a bow tie spin. The children worked very hard on these and produced some fantastic robts! Here they are:
Welcome to our blog in 4SS! This half term we are learning all about…lighting up. We have started to look at different festivals of light- including Diwali and Hanukkah. We have made Diwar pots and dreidels to play games with and created some lovely candles with chalk and pastels.
We are going to be looking at circuits and electricity next- and hope to make our own robot with moving parts! Watch this space…
